Easy Gulab Jamun Recipe- Diwali Special

Diwali is incomplete without Gulab Jamun. It is a small berry sized balls dipped in the sugar syrup. The Gulab Jamun with oozing sweet liquid when gulped gives euphoria. This sweet-savoury delicacy is not only a special dish during Diwali but also for all other festivities in India. With festivals around the corner, I just wanted to share this Easy Gulab Jamun Recipe with you.

Traditionally this Gulab Jamuns are made with khoya, but here is an alternative and easy recipe to make Gulab Jamuns. 

Gulab Jamun Recipe Ingredients:

For Gulab Jamun 

  • 2c Milk powder
  • ½ tsp Baking soda
  • ¼ c Milk
  • 3/4 c Maida
  • 3tbsp Ghee
  • Oil for frying

For Syrup:

  • 1½c Sugar
  • 1c Water
  • ½ tsp Cardamom powder
  • ½ tsp Lime juice

How to make Gulab Jamun: 

Method:

Step 1

Mix milk powder, baking soda, maida, add ghee and crumble with the fingers. 

Step 2

Now add the milk little at a time and knead it to a dough. Let it rest for 15 to 20 mins. 

Step 3

Now grease the hands and make small balls out of the dough.

Step 4

In a pan mix sugar and water for the syrup. Boil it till the syrup thickens. 

Step 5

Add lime juice and cardamom powder to it.

Step 6

Now heat oil in a Kadai for frying the Jamuns. The heat of the oil should be kept to the minimum. 

Step 7

Fry the Jamuns till golden brown colour appear. It may take 6 to 7 mins to fry the Jamuns.

Step 8 

When the jamuns are brown in colour drain out the excess oil and put to the warm sugar syrup. Let the Jamuns sit and absorb the syrup. Serve when it is warm.
